Macroeconomics, Market or Contract Incompleteness
School of Economics and Finance
The School of Economics and Finance at the University of St Andrews, is offering five PhD studentships to be taken up in Autumn 2007 – or as soon as possible thereafter – to work on topics related to macroeconomics, market or contract incompleteness or in related areas: The emphasis is on developing microeconomic foundations for macroeconomic theories and policy advice.
These scholarships are part funded by the Scottish Institute for
Research in Economics which is a major new initiative between the
Scottish Universities, in collaboration with the Scottish Funding
Council, in which the University of St Andrews is a lead institution.
More details on this initiative and our role in it may be found at:
http://www.econ.ed.ac.uk/sire/.
You will work on these topics and undertake limited undergraduate
teaching in return for a financial support package which will cover
tuition fees in addition to an inflation-linked studentship of £12,000
per year.
You will have completed a Masters degree in economics or you will have
at least an Honours degree-level education in a technical area such as
mathematics or engineering. Offers of a studentship will be
conditional on applicants being admitted to the University as a PhD
student. Awards will be for one year in the first instance, with
continuation for a further two years subject to satisfactory progress
each year.
